Lake Oswego Film Festival 2026 is very excited to announce:

Actor Scott Bernard Nelson and acting coach Karen Maseng will be leading "The Actor's Journey, from Script to Screen" workshop during the festival!

Portland-based actor Scott Bernard Nelson has appeared in 18 feature films, 38 short films and dozens of other productions, from YouTube series to TV commercials and vertical soap operas. Before acting — and a day job in higher education — he spent 22 years as a journalist, covering 9/11 in Manhattan, crossing into Iraq with U.S. Marines and contributing to The Boston Globe's Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church, which spawned the movie "Spotlight."

Karen Maseng began her career as an actress in Los Angeles before moving into casting, where she worked behind the camera and directed actors in audition sessions. She later founded Pogo Casting, offering a hands-on, collaborative approach to casting.

With more than twenty years of experience auditioning actors and working with directors, Karen brings an insider’s understanding of the casting process to her coaching. She works one-on-one with actors at every stage—from virtual auditions, self-tapes, and in-person callbacks to preparing for a role after they are cast—helping them develop into versatile, truthful artists. As a natural progression of her work with actors, Karen now creates independent film projects. Her first completed project, Unraveled, follows a teenage girl whose troubles at school leads to reluctant family-therapy sessions. Filmed on phones with a collaborative cast, the series grew from Karen’s belief that meaningful, high-quality stories can be made with accessible tools and committed artists. It is with a heavy heart the Lake Oswego Film Festival announces P.K. Glazer, our Master of Ceremonies and board member, passed away unexpectedly on July 10, 2026.

We are devastated by the loss of our best friend who was not only a super smart gentleman, but also a vivacious, and the kindest man you could ever hope to meet. He had a whip smart sense of humor and lit up any room he entered. We will take a moment at the awards show to honor this wonderful human being. We love you P.K.

For reference, here is a brief bio.

Peter Kendal Glazer (P.K.) Ph.D 11/12/1982-07/10/2026 was a locally born screen actor and film lover. As a teenager, he found a passion for action movies, specifically the works of Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay. After many years of a traditional academic path, PK ventured into the filmmaking space through a fortunate sequence of events and began working on short film projects with local directors and creators, eventually signing film, commercial, and print representation with Option Model and Media in Portland, OR. Upon completing his doctorate and multiple commercial campaigns in early 2021, PK began spending more time in Los Angeles, CA and signed with Coast-to-Coast Talent, now splitting his time between the two locations. He was a fan of Glen Powell, citing his dedication to the craft and project choices, as well as Christopher Nolan for his cutting-edge technique and ability to integrate multiple facets of a story into a cohesive and compelling narrative.
